“A lot of people are hurting right now, and they’re turning to painkillers and other opioids for relief,” reports NBC 15 News, a local news source. Sadly, 2020 drug overdose rates increased by 45% compared to 2019, with many attributing the cause to isolation, job loss, and the death of loved ones.

NBC 15 News also shared research from JAMA Psychiatry stating that, “nearly 900 drug overdoses reported to emergency rooms in Mobile County between January and November of 2020. The vast majority of those were white people between the ages of 25 and 49.”

Yet, despite these alarming statistics, there is hope for those struggling with addiction!

“We offer Christ-centered recovery for hurting and broken people struggling with addictions. We know there is hope for every person and that hope is in Christ Jesus,” said Big Fish Ministries (BFM) Founder and Executive Director, Isaac Stooksberry.
